Full Profile

Who Alan Is

Alan is a highly capable and quietly inventive engineer with a talent for building complex models that simply make sense. He has a natural ability to visualise how assemblies fit together, how they will develop through the design process and how they may need to adapt in the future. Calm, focused and methodical, Alan excels at taking intricate layouts and turning complexity into something clear, logical and workable.

Behind the scenes, Alan’s strong IT and computing skills underpin much of his work. He has a knack for finding smarter ways of doing things, whether that’s streamlining workflows, automating repetitive tasks or structuring models so they stay flexible long after the initial design is complete. His way of thinking often leads to solutions that aren’t immediately obvious to others. He’s also rarely seen without a large mug of tea close by, which many would argue is the real engine behind his productivity.

Outside of work, Alan enjoys rock climbing and mountaineering and is an active member of the Wessex Mountaineering Club. That balance of technical focus and problem-solving in demanding environments reflects the steady, considered way he approaches engineering challenges.

Why you’d want to work with Alan

Alan plays a key role in delivering high-quality CAD and layout work across a wide range of Amtek projects, particularly where designs are complex, large-scale or likely to evolve over time. His work is supported by a solid understanding of stress analysis, helping ensure designs are not only well modelled but also robust, practical and fit for purpose.

Clients and colleagues value Alan for

Exceptional CAD and modelling capability Alan excels at building complex assemblies and scheme layouts, creating robust and well-structured models that are easy to modify, scale or adapt as requirements change.

Designs built for change He structures models with future development in mind, making revisions straightforward whether a design needs to grow, shrink or be repurposed. This saves time, reduces risk and supports efficient long-term development.

Stress-aware, fit-for-purpose design Alan’s experience in stress analysis means load paths, structural behaviour and design intent are considered early, supporting designs that perform reliably in real-world use.

Strong systems and IT thinking His advanced computing skills allow him to optimise processes, spot efficiencies and approach problems from angles others might miss. The combination of engineering logic and IT insight adds real value to project delivery.

Reliability and attention to detail Alan works with care and consistency, producing accurate, well-organised designs that are ready to support downstream engineering, manufacturing and review.
